We love travelling around our country and discovering new Ciência Viva Science Centres! They are always a great starting point for new family adventures that leave us with lots of wonderful memories. We have already been to some from north to south: Carsoscópio - CCV do Alviela, Museu do Côa, Floresta - CCV de Proença-a-Nova, Mina de Ciência - CCV do Lousal, Parque de Astronomia - CCV de Constância, CCV de Estremoz and the Pavillion of Knowledge. They´re all spectacular!

We have explored all the Ciência Viva Science Centres and completed the Passport collection! Ciência Viva Journeys gives families the leading role in their contact with science, providing children (and adults) with access to informal and non-formal science education. This knowledge tourism programme helps the general public to gain greater awareness of science through leisure, entertainment or art.

We find it difficult to choose the Ciência Viva Science Centre we liked best, because there were so many. It almost makes us want to adapt that old saying: `All different, all equal´ to All different and all special!
Gabriel´s favourite centre was the Centro Ciência Viva dos Arcos - Oficinas da Criatividade Himalaya, because he loved the challenges of the Himalayan Labyrinth and enjoyed the lunar simulator even more! He also liked the Lousal Science Centre because he had the opportunity to go inside the mine where `fool´s gold´ was extracted for a long time. In third place, he chose the Lagos Science Centre, where he was able to assemble a radio circuit, decipher Morse code and even communicate using semaphore flags.Testimony 3

We discovered the Passport to Ciência Viva Journeys at the Pavilion of Knowledge - Ciência Viva Science Centre, when we went there to buy a gift for friends - and ended up buying a kit for ourselves too! Since then, we have given several cards to other friends, as we think it is a very special family gift.
It is difficult to choose just one Ciência Viva Science Centre - we liked so many! We would like to highlight the Forest - Ciência Viva Science Centre , the Centro Ciência Viva dos Arcos - Oficinas da Criatividade Himalaya and the Hall of Biodiversity - Ciência Viva Science Centre, which were very enriching experiences for the whole family.
We would also like to mention that we really appreciated the Centres that allow dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions
The kit, consisting of a card, a guide with 20 Journeys and an app, costs €70 and can be purchased at the ticket offices of the 21 Ciência Viva Science Centres, on the Ciência Viva Journeys website and at FNAC physical stores and online ticket office. When you purchase the CV Journeys kit, you will receive a CV Journeys Passport. Campaign valid until December 2025, subject to available stock.
The card can be used by:
1) Two adults (related or unrelated);
2) Two adults and their children up to 17 years of age – no limit on the number of children
At the time of activation, only three children can be included. If you have more than three children, please contact us by email.
It can be extended to children between the ages of 18 and 25 for an additional payment of €10 per child over the age of 18.
The card is valid for one year from the date of activation. The activation code assigned at the time of purchase is valid for 60 days. If you do not activate the card within the specified period, your card subscription will be cancelled.
The card´s validity period is not related to the civil year.
Please contact us by email for clarification on issues related to the activation period.
On the day the code is activated on the website, you will receive an email with a password. If you download the Ciência Viva Journeys app, you will have access to the digital card on the day of activation and can start using it from that day onwards. The printed card will be sent within a few days to the address provided on the online form you filled out.
The National Network of Ciência Viva Science Centres currently has 21 centres, such as the Pavilion of Knowledge, the Côa Museum, the UC Exploratório – CCV in Coimbra, the Biodiversity Gallery – CCV in Porto, among others, distributed throughout mainland Portugal and on the islands of São Miguel and Faial in the Azores. The card allows you to visit all Ciência Viva Science Centres free of charge as many times as you wish for one year.
No. Programmed activities at CV Science Centres that have an associated price are not covered by the card. However, activities are often free and take place on weekends. In the case of the Pavilion of Knowledge, find out about our offer and prices on the Weekend Activities page.
The card can be renewed online on the website with a discount of 5 euros. This option is only available during the last month of the card´s validity. You will receive email alerts notifying you that your card is about to expire and how you can renew it online. If you have been a user and wish to renew after this period, please contact us by email.
When you purchase the kit with the Guide (9th edition), we offer you the CV Journeys Passport – 3rd edition. The passport also has a digital version in the app. If you have an active card, you can collect stickers in the digital version of the passport and win prizes! Visit the Science Centres and receive a sticker for each different centre you visit. On your 5th, 10th, 15th and 21st visits, you are entitled to receive a prize.
If you are looking for that special gift for an adventurous family member or friend, give them experiences for a whole year. Leave the delivery of the surprise to us. Write a dedication and make your gift even more special!
You can choose between two gift options:
Ciência Viva Journeys Kit – sent by post – Purchase a Ciência Viva Journeys – Gift Option and we will send the CV Journeys Guidebook, Passport and card activation code to the name of the future Explorer and address you provide us with; when you activate the code, you will receive the printed card at the address provided. The digital card is immediately available for use in the app.
Ciência Viva Journeys Kit – sent by email – Purchase a digital Gift Voucher and it will be sent with the card activation code to the future Explorer´s email address; upon activating the code, the person will receive the Ciência Viva Journeys kit (Guidebook, passport and printed card) at home. The digital card is immediately available for use in the app.
Your Ciência Viva Journeys card gives you advantages with more than 300 partners across the country. Currently, our network includes:

• more than 130 science and culture partners, such as museums, monuments, natural parks, zoos and aquariums, caves and mines, as well as adventure experiences;

In the event of loss, theft or robbery of your Ciência Viva Journeys card, you should send an email as soon as possible, indicating your name, address and updated contact details.
The activation period is 60 days. After this period, it is not possible to activate your card. For exceptional cases such as sudden illness or data registration errors, please contact us by email.
